This website present student submitting course evaluations on selected University of Washington classes, with the goal of helping incoming freshmen to build their best possible course schedules. This website is specially created for Chinese-speaking international students in UW, such as those from China and other Southeast Asian countries.
• Design the site's home page and course detail page's appearance.
• Assist site engineers in this club to implement this website.
In the home page, visitors can view news articles and updates from our organizations. It also shows popular courses and a list of recommended unchallenging courses in the UW, as our users often find this list beneficial in their course planning journey.
The course detail page provides students a detailed information regarding a UW course. A brief summary of all evaluations on the top allows site visitors to quickly view average final grades and course perceived difficulties. Individual course evaluations are structurally displayed to improve skimmability, allowing visitors to efficiently target information they want to view the most.
Our student organization deeply understand that every evaluation from past students is beneficial for prospective course-takers. Hence our course survey page features playful text and image hints to gamify the survey-taking experience from past students.
Designing the home page is my responsibility. In my designs, I placed search bar in an evident location, as users would frequently use it to search the evaluation of specific courses. On the top of the home page, I emphasize this organization's recent news and advertisement articles, in order to encourage visitors to view its content. Finally, I've prototyped several alternative designs, for the organization to choose from, based on its needs.
